Norwich baseball picks up second win in a row; Zack Parker pitches a complete game in win over Sidney
NORWICH— The Norwich Purple Tornado baseball team returned home after earning their first win of the season against Walton/Downsville on Monday. Norwich faced off against non-league opponent Sidney on Wednesday and came away with a 5-2 victory.
Norwich senior Zack Parker went the distance on the mound and pitched a complete game in the win.
Sidney took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and that was it for the Sabers.
However, they held that lead until the bottom of the fourth inning.
Norwich went ahead 3-2 in the fourth and then added two insurance runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Aside from pitching a complete game, Zack Parker went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double.
Kolby Redenback had a hit and an RBI as Carmine Pastore had a double and an RBI.
Pierce Sherman went 2-for-3 with a double, an RBI, and two stolen bases.
Parker went all seven innings on the mound for Norwich, allowing just the two earned runs on three hits, a walk, and struck out eight batters.
Norwich (2-3) hosts Chenango Valley this evening at 5 p.m. before opening a three-game set with Oneonta.
