UV/GMU boys celebrate seniors with big win over BGAH

NEW BERLIN — The Unadilla Valley/GMU boys’ soccer team hosted Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville for senior night at Unadilla Valley High School on Monday night. Congratulations to Brayden Prentice and Declan Potter. The team also honored BGAH’s seniors Ben Porter, Nolan Foster, Troy Cannistra, Julian Terrell, and Jaden Lane.

UV/GMU celebrated its seniors well with a 6-1 victory over the Bears.

Both teams had back-and-forth touches on and off with UV/GMU having the most possession in both halves, making BGAH’s goalkeepers work hard.

UV/GMU put 10 shots on goal up in the first half with goals by Julius Smith off a pass by Reed Osborne, Caleb Dix, straight off the bench, from Osborne as well, Fraser MacDonald with a breakaway goal, MacDonald scored his second goal off a punt by goalie Nick Crandall.

BGAH’s David Sickler scored off a pass from Nolan Foster under 15 minutes until halftime.

UV/GMU led 4-1 at the break and came out hungry for more goals in the second half.

BGAH made a goalie change to start the second half where Beckett Longwell had to work, making 11 saves on a good amount of shots by UV/GMU.

MacDonald had his hat trick within the first 10 minutes of the second half on a corner kick while Nick Crandall and Julius Smith had their opportunities.

UV/GMU desperately wanted their seniors to score goals, which Brayden Prentice scored off a pass from Logan Panek with under 10 minutes to play. Declan Potter had shots on goal but one was too high and one was too short and saved by the goalie.

UV/GMU hosts Laurens/Milford on Thursday at 4:30 p.m. while BGAH heads to Delhi this evening at 5 p.m.
