OXFORD — Celtic/Americana trio Low Lily will share its eclectic fusion of folk and roots music at 6 On The Square in Oxford at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Low lily is the colloquial name for the trout lily, a wildflower that grows in the Northeast and regions further afield. Like its namesake, the band Low Lily has been blooming across the musical landscape since 2015.
Liz Simmons (guitar, banjo and vocals), Flynn Cohen (guitar, mandolin and vocals) and Lily Sexton (fiddle and vocals) have performed for audiences throughout the U.S., U.K. and Canada. They blend energetic fiddle music, introspective folk, bluegrass and Americana with the fiddle tunes and singing traditions of North America and the Anglo-Celtic diaspora.
Low Lily’s recordings have received critical praise, with two #1 songs on international folk radio and two Independent Music Award wins. The original song “Hope Lingers On” (written by former band member Lissa Schneckenburger) has been sung by choirs around the world as an anthem for peace and justice.
Tickets for the concert are $20 in advance or $25 at the door; purchase at 6onthesquare.org or call 607-843-OTS6 (6876) to make a reservation. Doors open one hour before the start of performances. The concert also will be streamed live online for $10; more information at 6onthesquare.org.
