NORWICH – Throughout the month of October, the Chenango Arts Council has planned festive seasonal art projects including a mosaic jack-o-lantern, just in time for Halloween.
Programming and Development Coordinator, Mary Beth Miller, said, “The supplies are included and there's step-by-step instructions. So, if you are not too experienced in it, you can still fully participate in the class and learn how to do a new craft.”
The Pumpkin Mosaic class is scheduled for Thursday, October 15, at 5:30 p.m. and costs $35 for members, and $45 for non-members to attend. All materials are included.
“You get to design your own pumpkin mosaic,” said Miller, “You take pieces and put them together for a pumpkin mosaic. And you can choose if you want jack-o-lantern or multicolored,” she explained.
Miller assured that all ages and experience levels will be able to participate in the pumpkin mosaic class.
The class will be led by professional artist Ashe Martin, who runs Forged from Ashe Studios out of Cortland, NY. She teaches classes for all ages and leads the Kids Summer Art Camp at the Chenango Arts Council.
“Unless the class is full, we'll take enrollment right up until the day before,” Miller said, so there is still time to sign up.
This Saturday, October 17, CAC is also hosting a Watercolor Paint and Sip from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in which all supplies, including sipping, are included. Attendance costs $45 for members and $50 for non-members. The session is led by CAC professional artist Kathy Smith, who will give step-by-step instructions on how to create a festive fall watercolor painting.
Miller says that the Chenango Arts Council offers these programs as part of an initiative to bring art classes to the community.
The council's mission is to “connect the Arts to our communities to enrich quality of life.” They do this by executing their vision to “Explore, Enlighten, Inspire - all things Arts!”
