Girls' Basketball: B-G honors senior Johnna Henderson in win vs UV

BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Lady Bobcats are trying to end the 2023-2024 on a high note and they certainly have with back-to-back wins against Oxford and now Unadilla Valley. On Friday, B-G defeated the Storm 41-18 to split the MAC series match-up. B-G and UV tied for second in the MAC division two standings with a 5-3 league record.
Prior to tip-off, B-G honored its lone senior, Johnna Henderson, who has been outstanding throughout the season. Johnna averages roughly 12.5 points per game to go along with her rebounding strengths.
B-G played consistently throughout the entire contest with holding the Storm all night. UV pushed through with its two leading scorers Jaiden Schrag and Natalie Crandall, who did their best against a tough Bobcats' defense. Schrag finished with 14 points with all 12 of UV's points in the second half. Crandall added four points in the loss.
B-G's Johnna Henderson recorded a double-double behind a good all-around team effort. Johnna scored a team-high 16 points with 10 rebounds. Marissa Mayo followed with eight points and seven rebounds. Mayo scored six of eight points in the third quarter.
Peyton Umbra, Chandler Benjamin, and Jayslin Henderson all added five points while Umbra added seven rebounds and two assists. Jayslin Henderson had three assists and four steals in the win.
Both B-G and UV head into the MAC playoffs, but B-G has one final regular season this evening against Candor at 7 p.m. B-G is expected to face Sidney, who lost to Unatego in the MAC tiebreaker game, and UV heads to Delhi this evening.
