S-E Swim honors senior Lydia Larchar against Cooperstown

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne-Earlville/Hamilton co-ed swim team hosted Cooperstown for a meet on Tuesday evening. Before the meet, S-E honored their lone senior, Lydia Larchar.
The team achieved 16 sectional cuts this year, and last night, S-E had 11 swimmers set new personal bests.
Lydia, Parker McCracken, Ava Flanagan, and Colin Maguire set a new best time in the 200 yard medley relay with a time of 2:09.10 to kick things off.
Madelyn Chouinard earned a new best time of 3:00.18 in the 200 yard freestyle with Isaac Larchar finishing in his best 3:06.55. Amelia Furlong finished third in the 200 individual medley, but missed setting a new best as she finished in 3:13.93.
Lydia Larchar just missed the sectionals cut in the 50 yard freestyle as she was just shy. She did set a new best time of 28.64, but needs 28.59 to make it. She should in the next meet. Amelia Casscles finished in 32.07 seconds.
Parker McCracken qualified for sectionals with a time of 1:17.34 in the 100 yard butterfly event, which he took first place. Maguire also qualified for sectionals with a time of 1:03.81 in the 100 freestyle.
Ava Flanagan took second in the 500 freestyle, which she previously qualified for sectionals in, but picked up a season best time of 6:35.26.
Furlong, Chouinard, Isaac Larchar, and Casscles all swam in the 200 yard freestyle relay, earning a new best time of 2:17.59. Chouinard, Lydia Larchar, and Maguire all competed in the 100 yard backstroke, where Larchar (1:21.24) and Maguire (1:23.76) picked up new best times.
Casscles, Furlong, Isaac Larchar, Parker McCracken, and Flanagan swam in the 100 yard breaststroke. McCracken has already qualified for sectionals in this event and set a new best time of 1:14.64 as Flanagan (1:33.58), Furlong (1:47.70), and Casscles (1:48.94) also earned new bests.
Lydia, Maguire, Flanagan, and McCracken earned a new personal best time of 4:24.99 in the 400 freestyle relay.
