Morris man found in good health, now faces charges
NEW BERLIN – For the past two weeks authorities have been searching for Yishiro Hamata (AKA Tyrell Avery Rogers). Hamata had been reportedly missing since June 16 when he was previously seen in the Oneonta area.
Over the past two weeks New York State Troopers and local authorities had been tirelessly searching for the missing man. It was only this weekend on June 27 when authorities found Hamata in good health at Hunt's Pond State Park in the Town of New Berlin. After Hamata was found he was then arrested the next day.
Hamata has been charged with giving a false written statement to New York State Troopers. After an investigation it was determined that Hamata had been misleading the authorities about his whereabouts for the previous two weeks.
According to authorities, it was also found that Hamata was not truthful about the circumstances leading up to his reported disappearance.
According to the New York State Police, Hamata gave his false statement when he told the troopers that he had been the victim of a racially motivated assault/abduction. The State Police also report that during the time of the investigation, Hamata had been staying with friends and family and intentionally deceived authorities about his location.
Hamata was arraigned in the Town of Norwich Court and remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility where bail was set at $5,000 cash or $15,000 property bond. He will appear in court again at a later date.
