Oxford volleyball advances to MAC playoffs with 3-1 win
DEPOSIT – Deposit-Hancock hosted the Oxford Blackhawk volleyball squad and surrendered a 3-1 loss on their home court this past Friday.
Deposit-Hancock snuck a first set win from the visiting Blackhawks, dropping Oxford at 26-24.
Oxford head coach, Kim Martin, helped rally her Blackhawks to the cause – ripping off three straight set wins on the night.
Better yet, in the three wins, Oxford’s defense allowed no more that 19 points to be scored against them.
The lady Blackhawks took set two at 25-18, followed by a 25-19 set three win, and a dominating 25-9 final set win.
No individual statistics were provided for Deposit-Hancock.
Oxford produced the following statistics in their comeback win: Krysten Vigus with six aces, and five digs; Allison Beckwith with five aces, and four kills; Jessie Howe with two aces, and five digs; Andrea Dempsey with four kills, and four digs; Destiny Oralls with three kills, and five digs; Kelsey Drewniak with eight digs; and Jourdan Pinney with six digs.
With the road win, Oxford volleyball (6-3 league, 6-4 overall), will next see action on Tuesday, October 17, when they travel to play Walton in the MAC league playoffs.
