Golf: Oxford starts 2023 season with a win over Delhi

DELHI – After finishing 6-5 last season, Coach Thorne and an experienced Oxford Blackhawks golf team returned to action on Wednesday against Delhi. Oxford opened the 2023 season on top with a 258-315 victory.
Oxford’s Bennett Paden, who returns for his sophomore year, led all golfers with a 47 (+ 11) on the par-36 course. Kyle Benjamin, another big contributor last season, shot a stroke above with a 48 as senior Ethan Hodge finished with a 52. Caden Rifanburg (55) and Sylas Emerson (56) rounded out the day for the top scorers. Blake Barrows also saw some playing time as the team’s sixth golfer.
Delhi’s scores ranged from a 55 to a 69.
Oxford looks to keep things rolling against a tough Sidney team on the road this morning at 10 a.m.
