SOUTH OTSELIC – It was an intense game between the Otselic Valley Vikings and the Fabius-Pompey boys basketball teams on Thursday night. OV led for most of the game until the Falcons, who were still looking for their first win of the season, fought back to take a brief lead within the final minute of the game.
However, OV made one-of-two free-throws to cut the deficit to one (57-56) before forcing a turnover, which allowed them to call a timeout and set up the game-winner.
Lukas Schieferstein hit a three at the buzzer to win it for the Vikings 59-57. Schieferstein finished with 21 points, two rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
Owen Davis scored 16 points and had five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. Caleb Loomis and Ryley Palmer both finished with seven points. Loomis led the team with 11 assists as Palmer and Payne Wood both had nine rebounds. Wood finished with six points as Logan Foster chipped in two in the win.
OV (7-6) heads to Manilus-Pebble Hill on Monday at 7 p.m. The Vikings defeated the Trojans 50-39 in their first meeting on January 6.
