Oxford girls win third straight; defeat Whitney Point

WHITNEY POINT— On Monday, the Oxford Blackhawks girls’ basketball team traveled to Whitney Point for a non-league road contest. Oxford returned home with their third straight victory, defeating the Eagles 51-39.

Oxford had a strong first half across the board, outscoring Whitney Point 34-11 at halftime. From there, Oxford slowed down after the break, but continued to remain in control of the contest.

Raine Rovente had another impressive game as she posted a double-double with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Paige Rickard finished with 13 points, including three three-pointers, five assists, and three steals.

Jenna Denz added eight points off the bench as Emmalee Reiss knocked in two three’s for six points.

Margaret Rovente finished with four points and 10 rebounds while Aubrey Rickard had three points and Reesanne Tefft with two points.

Oxford improves to 4-3 on the season and heads to Unadilla Valley on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.
