OV boys honor seniors; surge in the second half to defeat Manlius-Pebble Hill

SOUTH OTSELIC— The Otselic Valley Vikings boys' basketball team hosted Manlius-Pebble Hill on Monday night, where the Vikings honored its seniors.

Congratulations to Lukas Schieferstein, Owen Davis, Gage Foster, and Caleb Loomis. OV also honored cheer and pep club senior Josie Guernsey.

The Vikings also celebrated Schieferstein's 1000 career points, the first since Braeden Davis in 2022-2023. Congratulations, Lukas!

OV also honored senior award winners as Caleb Loomis was second all-time in NYS in career saves in soccer from the 2025 season and Owen Davis for his golf accomplishment from being a Section III small school champion in 2023.

After being down 9-0 in the first quarter, Owen Davis scored the Vikings first basket with 4:09 left. The Vikings also had multiple offensive rebounds but were unlucky with scoring on those opportunities and were down by 10 points.

Schieferstein and Davis made it a five-point game with Schieferstein's free-throws and Davis' three-pointer.

Davis added another basket as Konyr Clemens rebounded and set up a two before Caleb Loomis hit a half-court shot at the first quarter buzzer. The Vikings led 20-18 after the first eight minutes.

Manlius-Pebble Hill provided three's of their own to make it a back-and-forth affair, but OV also answered with their own threes and able to score off MPH's turnovers.

The Vikings led 33-30 at halftime before coming out for the second half with a 13-0 run.

It was 60-43 OV at the end of the third quarter before the Vikings went up 20 points with five minutes left in the contest.

MPH tried to make a comeback in the final eight minutes, but OV maintained its lead to win 76-66.

Owen Davis led the Vikings with 27 points with five three-pointers.

Lukas Schieferstein added 26 points with two three's, five rebounds, three assists, and three steals.

Logan Foster had eight points, including a basket in the final seconds of the third quarter.

Konyr Clemens and Caleb Loomis both finished with seven points.

Loomis also had a team-high nine assists in the win.

OV (9-9) hosts Madison on Thursday at 6 p.m.
